A Gift to the Weary Youth Worker

The 5 Minute Youth Ministry Coach and all resources on this website were developed out of the ongoing ministry of Covenant Fellowship Baptist Church in Stuart, FL. Pastor Jay Holland and his team of adult leaders have been serving the same student body for over 15 years, always with a vision of making disciples who make disciples. As we worked to standardize training for our own leaders, we realized that the same resources would help nearly any local church. Rather than sell or charge a subscription for the content, we partnered with The 127 Project to fund production of each teaching resource. If you are in a place where you can help the 127 Project produce resources for churches, parents, and students, feel free to support us.  But if you are like so many serving in youth ministry – overwhelmed, understaffed, and underfunded – please use and adapt this content to train and develop your own youth workers.

What We Believe

GOD

God is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe. He has eternally existed, and has revealed himself through history as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.

Genesis 1:1; 26-27, Psalm 90:2, Matthew 28:19, Corinthians 8:6, II Corinthians 13:14I Peter 1:2

JESUS CHRIST

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He rose from the dead on the third day to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory where he sits at the right hand of the Father. He will return again someday to earth to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords for all of eternity.

Isaiah 9:6-7, Matthew 1:22-23, John 1:1-5; 14:1-310-13, Acts 1:9-11, Romans 1:3-4, I Corinthians 15:3-4, I Timothy 6:14-15Titus 2:13-14

THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He indwells every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with understanding of spiritual truth as revealed in scripture, and enables believers to share the life of God. He gives every believer a spiritual gift when they are saved. As Christians we seek to live under His control daily.

John 14:16-17; 16:7-15Acts 1:8; 5:3-4Romans 8:9I Corinthians 2:12-14; 3:16II Corinthians 3:17Galatians 5:22-25Ephesians 1:13-145:18

THE BIBLE

The Bible is the written Word of God. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme and only source of truth for belief and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is the truth without any mixture of error.

Psalm 12:6; 119:105; 160Proverbs 30:5Matthew 5:18II Timothy 3:16-17II Peter 1:20-21

HUMAN BEINGS

People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character and to reflect his wonder. People are the supreme object of God’s creation and of his affection. Although every person was created with tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by a self-centered and independent spirit called Sin which separates us from God and makes life unnecessarily difficult and painful. Apart from God’s redemption, humanity has no hope. In Christ, however, we have been made holy and righteous.

Genesis 1:27Psalm 8:3-6Isaiah 53:6, 59:1-3Romans 3:23Colossians 3:12

SALVATION

Salvation is God’s free gift to us, but we must accept it by faith. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as Savior, can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life and ask God to give us new life through Jesus, we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.

John 1:12; 14:6Romans 3:23-24; 5:1; 6:23Galatians 3:26Ephesians 2:8-9Titus 3:5

ETERNAL SECURITY

Because God gives us eternal life through Jesus Christ, the true believer is secure in that salvation for eternity. If you have been genuinely saved, you cannot “lose” your salvation. If you are God’s child, you are His child forever. Salvation is both given and maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. It is the grace and the finished work of Christ on the cross that gives us this security.

John 1:12; 10:27-29Romans 8:38-39II Timothy 1:12Hebrews 7:25; 10:14I Peter 1:3-5

ETERNITY

People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally with God is eternal life. Heaven and hell are real places of eternal existence.

John 3:16; 14:1-3, Romans 6:23Revelation 20:15
